Assignment 8: Art and Fear 2

As I explained in a different post, I view my work, stories, and characters as their own entities, separate beings from me, that float through the void for a host, and found me along the way. An analogy I would use for creating art is picturing those ideas as living figures, and the art you produce are clothes you knit and sew for them to wear. While making these clothes you have to worry about whether they would suit the idea, whether they are too revealing or conforming, Avant-Garde or comfortable, and whether to focus on the popular styles or just the kind of thing you would enjoy. You have to focus on how the idea is dressed not only for the Idea's sake but because when it steps out into the world, the world will have the choice whether to give it the time of day. This can be scary, which is why we all fear the answer to two questions; Will it ever turn out as good as I dream it will, and will people treat all of it's flaws as harshly as I do.
